Which opens it up to a lot more students.
Google Moderator has an android app which allows folk to post questions too (not sure about other platforms).
Could do with more free to use options... polleverywhere is only free for small classes.

For info, Strathclyde was the first UK university to adopt clickers - see here
It took to long for the tech to make the 7 mile journey to my own institution, but they did get here. Issues over collection and distribution of clickers (they are not built into rooms, batteries fail, there are limited numbers, etc) have led me to favour mobile phone based options for now.Ethics and Transparency In Politicshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05640095215313792577noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21077063.post-41426502559832450572010-12-08T12:32:40.750+00:002010-12-08T12:32:40.750+00:00Thank you for sharing these great reasons explaini...Thank you for sharing these great reasons explaining why audience response systems enhance learning. I'd like to add one piece to the conversation. Educators can save time and money if they stop paying these interactive whiteboard (and independent companies) the $2500 or so dollars, can avoid distribution and collection, and don't have to be concerned with students having SmartPhones if they use audience response systems that rely on texting. Poll Everywhere and Text the Mob are two such systems. Poll Everywhere has a specific plan for educators which is free for 30 students. Unlimited Polls. Text The Mob allows 50 responses for free and three polls a month.

I explain how to get started and some ideas for use here http://theinnovativeeducator.blogspot.com/2010/10/free-classroom-response-system-with.html

Now, I have some more ideas to share with my readers about why there such an effective tool. See the primer open book: "m-Science: Sensing, Computing and Dissemination" at http://m-science.net/book
The book aims to give concrete, hands on, practical information about how to actually get started with mobile science: ranging from spectroscopy in the classroom, sensing and supercomputing to programming and m-Learning.E.
